Preserving your teeth is our top priority. However, for extensive defects, a dental crown that stabilizes the tooth all around is a long-term solution.

If one or more teeth are lost, there are many ways to fill the gaps between the teeth. We will work with you to find the right solution for you, be it a bridge, an implant or a removable denture. The variety of care is very extensive and should be discussed in a way that is tailored to you. Simply make an appointment for a non-binding consultation, where we can explain the possibilities and costs to you in detail.

Digital dentistry

There have been some innovations in dentistry in recent years that I would like to share with you. We work with an intraoral scanner, which saves you from having to take impressions for the dentures.

We can often digitally design the dentures on site in the practice to save time and money and then mill them for you or print them using a 3D printer. In this way, you can receive aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting dentures within a very short time. Alternatively, the data can be securely transmitted to a dental laboratory and used there for the conventional production of the dentures. We always discuss individually which solution and process is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Prosthetics

Dental prosthetics refer to any type of prosthetic solution used to replace missing teeth, restoring the functionality and aesthetics of the dental arch. Common types of dental prosthetics include crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants.

Materials: Prosthetics are made from high-quality materials such as ceramics, metals, or plastics. Full ceramics are especially popular for their natural appearance.

Benefits:

  • Improved chewing and speech functions.
  • Restoration of an aesthetic smile.
  • Long-term protection of remaining teeth from overloading.

There are several types of dental prosthetics, chosen based on the patient’s needs and dental condition:

  • Crowns: Used to restore or protect damaged teeth.
  • Bridges: Fixed solutions to replace one or more missing teeth.
  • Dentures: Removable prosthetics for larger gaps or edentulous jaws.
  • Implants: Artificial tooth roots combined with crowns or bridges.

The lifespan of dental prosthetics depends on the type, materials, and oral hygiene. On average:

  • Crowns: 10–15 years or more.
  • Bridges: 10–15 years.
  • Implants: With proper care, they can last a lifetime.
  • Dentures: 5–10 years, depending on materials and fit.

The cost of dental prosthetics varies depending on type, materials, and the scope of work. Examples:

  • Crowns: €500–€1,500 per tooth.
  • Bridges: From €1,000, depending on length.
  • Implants: €2,000–€4,000 per implant.
  • Dentures: €800–€3,000.

Public health insurance typically provides a fixed subsidy based on the diagnosis.

Proper care of dental prosthetics is essential for their longevity. Tips:

  • Clean removable prosthetics daily with special cleaning solutions.
  • Use floss, interdental brushes, and water flossers for fixed prosthetics.
  • Regular dental check-ups ensure functionality and precise fit.

Modern dental prosthetics are made from various materials:

  • Ceramics: Provides natural aesthetics and high biocompatibility.
  • Metal: Durable and long-lasting, often used for bridges or crowns.
  • Plastic: Commonly used for removable dentures or temporary solutions.

Fixed prosthetics: Permanently attached in the mouth, such as crowns, bridges, or implants. They offer maximum comfort and feel like natural teeth.

Removable prosthetics: Can be taken out by the patient for cleaning. These are typically used for larger gaps or edentulous jaws.

Decision: The choice depends on the dental condition, desired comfort, and budget. Your dentist will help you select the best option.

Allergic reactions to dental prosthetics are rare, as modern materials like ceramics and titanium are highly biocompatible. However, some patients may experience sensitivities to certain metals or plastics.

How to avoid allergies: Inform your dentist about any known allergies. This helps in selecting hypoallergenic materials like full ceramics or special metals.

Prosthetics should be checked at least twice a year during regular dental visits. During these check-ups, the dentist evaluates their condition, fit, and possible damage.

Replacement timelines: Longevity depends on care:

  • Crowns and bridges: 10–15 years.
  • Removable dentures: 5–10 years.
  • Implants: Often lifetime with proper care.

Regular professional cleaning significantly extends the lifespan of prosthetics.

Yes, modern dental prosthetics are designed to closely mimic the appearance and functionality of natural teeth. Prosthetics made from full ceramics or composite materials are especially noted for their natural aesthetics.

Advanced technologies: CAD/CAM systems and 3D printing ensure precise color and shape matching, making prosthetics virtually indistinguishable.

With the right prosthetics, you can restore the natural beauty of your smile.
